CGC Program and Test

Four 30-minute sessions to set you and your dog on the right path toward the 10 essential skills assessed in the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. Includes the CGC test.

1. Accepting a friendly stranger: The dog allows a stranger to approach and interact with them without showing aggression or excessive excitement.
2. Sitting politely for petting: The dog sits calmly and allows a stranger to pet them.
3. Appearance and grooming: The dog allows a stranger to examine their body, including their paws and ears.
4. Out for a walk (walking on a loose lead): The dog walks calmly on a leash without pulling, lagging, or lunging.
5. Walking through a crowd: The dog walks calmly through a crowd of people without reacting aggressively or excitedly.
6. Sit and down on cue and staying in place: The dog performs sit and down on command and stays in place for a short period.
7. Coming when called: The dog comes when called by their owner, even with distractions.
8. Reaction to another dog: The dog reacts politely to another dog, without lunging, barking, or growling.
9. Reaction to distraction: The dog remains calm and under control when faced with distractions, such as a dropped object.
10. Supervised separation: The dog remains calm and does not show signs of distress when separated from their owner for a short period.
